Values and Ethos

Monkwood Primary School is emerging as vibrant and challenging learning community that has just embarked on a new and exciting 21st century educational challenge. Simply put; it’s a great place to be.

It is our intention that all our pupils have the drive, ambition and aspiration to achieve, and this underpins all that we do. It is seen and felt in our physical environment and in the way that we behave and relate to each other. Through this ethos we intend that our whole community feels valued and supported and committed to this ideal.

Pupils are given opportunities through the curriculum to succeed in their aspirations, whether academic or vocational. First hand learning and inspirational teaching lie at the heart of our core mission and purpose. We aim to celebrate achievement and recognise success as often as we can, creating a culture of positivity and praise, where children and young people can be nurtured in order that they can become effective and confident citizens of tomorrow.  Pupils’ learning is enriched through first hand experiences and by pupils living their learning, be it through discovery of dragon eggs, visits to scrumptious chocolate factories, winter woodland walks or Roman banquets to name but a few.

Our staff work here because they are all committed to educating, empowering and inspiring children. Every adult is responsible for every pupil, and together they make the difference. By belonging to Wickersley Partnership trust our team is strengthened and collectively we strive to ensure that every child is known, safe, inspired, challenged and empowered and could not do this without working in partnership with our parents. We expect success…..and you can expect this of us for your child.

We are a big school with a big heart and a passion for making learning irresistible.
